South Korean Customs & Key Import Notes

South Korean customs procedures are efficient and transparent but require accurate and compliant documentation, with strict quarantine regulations especially for sensitive items such as food and cosmetics.

Complete Import Declaration Documents: Requires an accurate Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading/Air Waybill, and a Certificate of Origin (to claim tariff benefits under the China-Korea FTA) as required by origin rules.

Duties & Taxes: Customs duty and a 10% Value-Added Tax apply. Providing a valid Certificate of Origin under the China-Korea FTA can significantly reduce tariffs.

Strict Quarantine & Certification: All food, agricultural products, cosmetics, medical devices, etc., require an Import License or Compliance Inspection from relevant Korean agencies (e.g., MFDS, APQA) before import, and must meet mandatory certification requirements such as the KC Mark and HACCP.

Product Labeling & Language: Labels on goods sold in South Korea must be in Korean, clearly stating ingredients, country of origin, shelf life, importer information, etc.
