Philippine customs procedures are relatively complex, with strict document requirements. The role of a licensed Customs Broker is crucial; compliance and professional brokerage are key to smooth clearance.
Mandatory Customs Broker: All imported goods must be cleared by a licensed Customs Broker accredited by the Philippine Bureau of Customs. We work closely with reliable local brokers to ensure a compliant and efficient process.
Import Duties & Taxes: Imports are subject to Customs Duties and a 12% Value Added Tax (VAT). Duty rates vary based on product classification, with some items attracting additional taxes.
Mandatory Product Standard Certification: Many products (e.g., electrical appliances, lighting, construction materials, chemicals) require PS (Philippine Standard) Mark certification or ICC (Import Commodity Clearance) Permit from the Bureau of Philippine Standards (BPS) before import.
Import Permits & Regulation: For regulated goods like food, drugs, cosmetics, telecom equipment, and animal/plant products, an Import Permit must be obtained from relevant Philippine agencies (e.g., FDA, NTC, DA) prior to import.
Documentation & ACID Requirements: Complete documentation, including notarized commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, is required for all imports. Note that the Advance Cargo Information Declaration (ACID) system has been piloted for select shipments since 2022.
