Customs Declaration & Importer Registration: All imports must be declared electronically via the DIAN system. Importers must have a valid tax identification number (NIT) in Colombia.
Main Taxes & Duties:1)Customs Duty: Determined by the product's Customs Tariff Code (NANDINA). Colombia has trade agreements with many countries; we can provide guidance on applying for Certificates of Origin to benefit from preferential rates.2)Value Added Tax (VAT - IVA): Standard rate is 19%, applied to the sum of CIF value, customs duty, and other applicable taxes.
Import Licenses & Regulatory Certificates: Specific goods (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, food, chemicals, telecommunications equipment, tires) require Import Licenses or Regulatory Certificates from relevant ministries before import.
