Hungary/EU Customs & Key Import Notes

As an EU member state, Hungary follows unified EU customs regulations, with a relatively high VAT rate within the EU.

EU Unified Clearance & EORI Number: Importers require an EU EORI number. We can provide customs declaration services locally in Hungary or at the first EU port of entry.

VAT Regime: Hungarian Value-Added Tax (VAT) applies (standard rate 27%). VAT payment can be deferred for goods entering Hungarian customs-controlled bonded warehouses. Non-EU entities typically need to appoint a local fiscal representative.

Product Compliance (CE Marking): All regulated products must meet EU CE Marking requirements. Complete technical documentation, including the Declaration of Conformity, must be prepared.

Customs Valuation & Documentation: Hungarian customs strictly review the authenticity and
consistency of commercial invoices; extremely detailed invoice information is recommended.
